Activities

Crested Butte sits on the doorstep of five wilderness areas in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The former mining town has retained its Victorian character and architecture, and has added great restaurants, shops and events to keep the entire family busy and happy.
In winter, the Crested Butte ski resort offers great terrain for all abilities of downhill skier and snowboarder and includes the finest expert runs in Colorado. In addition, Nordic skiers are offered many kilometers of trails groomed for both classic and skating techniques and unlimited back country skiing. Snowmobiling, sleighrides, ice skating, dog sled rides, sledding and snowshoeing are other activities available to round out your winter vacation.
In summer, Crested Butte takes on its role as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado as the mountains bloom with color. Hiking and mountain biking are available in an endless variety in the surrounding area. Other activities include fishing, horseback riding, jeep tours, golf, theatre, festivals, hot air balloon rides, chairlift rides and river rafting. As fall approaches, the mountains turn golden as the aspen leaves change heralding the approach of another winter. Fall colors on Kebler Pass and Ohio Pass close to Crested Butte are some of the most photographed and spectacular in the entire state.
